Floyd and Solomon Hughes are DESIGNINHUES.

 

Sharing a third floor studio in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights district, the father-son team collaborate on commercial projects and are creating new concepts to pitch for Television, Film, Animation and Comics/Graphic Novels. 

They are also hard at work on a number of diverse book projects to pitch to the publishing industry.

 

Floyd is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Brooklyn’s Pratt Institute, and after decades working in Film, Television, Animation, Illustration, Commercial Art, Graphic Design, Comics/Graphic Novels and Visual Consultancy first in the United Kingdom and now the United States, London-born Floyd realized that it would be both a great opportunity (and a wise decision) to combine his skills, knowledge and decades of experience with his son’s youth, energy and state of the art abilities.

 

Fortunately, Solomon agreed.

 

Solomon Hughes attends Pratt Institute School of Art & Design where he studies Graphic Design.

A graduate of New York’s High School of Art & Design, Solomon has been writing and drawing comics since he was 8, starting with Looney Tunes characters then moving on to his own original creations.

At 10 he printed 20 full color copies of his own Looney Tunes comic. 

At 14 he self-published a science fiction comic called ‘Echoes’ followed a year later with a 25-page adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s ‘The Alchemist’.

His artwork has been exhibited in the Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, he is a Scholastic Gold Key Award winner, and one of his paintings was reproduced as a giant mural on the playground wall of The Carroll School, P.S. 58 in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn New York.

 

DESIGNINHUES' first team effort producing storyboards for a scene in Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry’s directorial debut ‘Bruised’, was quickly followed by storyboards for a short film for Academy Award winner Spike Lee introducing the 2021 Cadillac Escalade. 

The film served as a lead in to the General Motors sponsored 2020 Academy Awards.

DESIGNINHUES also served as Visual Consultants on Lee’s Netflix smash hit ‘Da 5 Bloods’.
