Hello.
My name is Floyd Hughes, and I am an Associate Professor at Pratt Institute School of Art and Design in Brooklyn, NY.

I have been freelancing on and off for over three decades, both in England where I was born, and in the United States .
I've worked in film, illustration, comics and animation, and of course, as a teacher.
This is a partial overview of my time on Earth as a Commercial Artist. Hundreds of images have been excluded for various reasons, one being that I've only included a couple of pieces that were collaborations with another artist, as I want to show work that is mine, warts and all.
One of the toughest parts of this field is that one often is unable to produce the work to the best of ones abilities due to whatever circumstances, but the bottom line is, I did, as all artists should, the best I could in the time allowed.
Every couple of hours I remember projects I worked on that aren't even included here, such as being a character/prop designer for MTV's Downtown and Celebrity Deathmatch,
and the hundreds of pages I have inked over other pencillers, or them over me.
This site is part to solicit work and private commissions, and part to provide an insight into what I've been doing for the past 30+ years. What I've done that I suppose might be categorized as 'art' I might put on another site someday.
My students keep telling me I should write a book or draw a graphic novel of the stories I tell them, the people I have met and the 'adventures' that came with the life I have led so far.
